I’m Richard Moss, and I work in HMRC’s Digital Service. We’re looking for some serious digital talent to join the team, and not just here at the digital centre I run in Yorkshire.
I’m very proud of my team and get to spend my day surrounded by people who are passionate about what they do, and who go the extra mile and more to make the service they're working on the very best it can be for our customers (potentially millions).
None of that will surprise you. But here’s 3 things that might.
- We work on the biggest transformation programme anywhere in government today with our ambitious plan to change how tax works for millions of businesses and individuals - Making Tax Digital. We’re not simply adding digital tools to the current system – we’re building something that will feel completely different. And on the scale that we operate, that makes for very exciting opportunities to shape the future
- We’re not only sharing our code but also our knowledge. We work out of five state-of-the-art digital delivery centres: Newcastle, London, Telford, Manchester, plus, of course, Yorkshire. As you’d expect, we use agile methodology, and we’re committed to using open source tools and coding in the open – some good examples in a recent blog post – but we’re taking our commitment to sharing and transparency even further. At the end of January we published what we believe is one of the first digital delivery manuals of its kind anywhere – Digital Delivery Unpackaged – sharing what we’ve learnt building our digital capability over the last three years
- We have awarding winning talent schemes. Most organisations will tell you that they’re committed to developing their people, giving them every chance to be the best they can be, and opportunities to progress their career. And many of them are. But not so many have won industry awards for their talent schemes or are working with BCS to introduce digital skills into the industry-wide SFIA framework
We know that making fantastic digital services needs fantastic digital people. If that’s you then I hope you’ll consider the roles we’re currently offering – see details below. If you’d like to talk to some of our people about life in our Digital Service we’re planning some open days at our centres so watch this blog for more details.
Thanks for taking the time to read this and good luck if you apply!
