This is only my second post on this blog so I’d better just introduce myself - I’m Jason and I head up HMRC’s Digital Delivery Centre in Newcastle.
I’m delighted to announce that we’re recruiting again to fill posts within the Centre. We’ve got a range on offer in this round. They are: Product Managers, Solutions Architects, Senior Designers, Web Operations Engineers, Lead Developers, Software Developers, UX Designers, and a Digital Performance Analyst.
If you know anything about HMRC’s digital ambitions then you’ll know we’ve got a big job to do. I’m looking for people who not only have first rate technical skills but have a real passion for digital technology and what it can do. If that’s you, then the Digital Delivery Centre will be a great place to be. Over the last few months, we’re really starting to see what can be achieved in a true agile and highly collaborative environment. We’re right at the heart of transforming how millions of customers will deal with their tax affairs and the future is going to be a very exciting one.
Together with my team, I’m hosting an open evening on Wednesday 24th from 6 to 9pm. If you’re interested in finding out more we’d love to meet you and show you round the Centre. To register for the open evening go to www.bit.ly/hmrcdigitalopenevening.

It’s been a very exciting 6 months since I last posted on here. There’s loads I could write about but a couple of real highlights for me were:
In April we delivered our first new service, which enabled over 408,000 customers with no changes to report to renew their tax credits claim online. We involved over 600 customers and staff in user testing and it really paid off as nearly everyone we asked (94%) said they were either satisfied or very satisfied with the service.
In July, we welcomed David Gauke, Financial Secretary to the Treasury, to the Centre to officially open it. It was great to be able to show the Minister what we are doing, and he was even able to join a session with some of our customers testing a service in design. I’m extremely proud of what we are creating here in Newcastle, and the teams we’re building. There is a real buzz around the place, and so it was great to hear the Minister refer to the Centre as ‘pioneering’ in terms of making public services better and cheaper.
Are you ready to join us?
